I hear you. I'm a marketer foremost, so I lost any shame about marketing myself a long time ago. And sometimes you gotta be in peoples' faces to get anywhere. I don't like it, but I don't make the rules. Attention spans are shorter than ever and there is crazy competition for the little attn that people have. So that's why you see so many people who send 3 emails a day about a sale ending, for example. Yeah, it seems obnoxious as hell, but it works.
I figure even if these platforms do something to reduce traffic as seems to eventually happen, we still have those articles and can do whatever we want with them.
